Reflections of a Game Designer
The finishing touches have been put on Champions of the Force and are being shipped off to Lucas for approval. I am proud of the set. It takes the miniatures game in new directions, which I hope enriches the play experience. I attempted to increase the utility value of some of the lesser used existing pieces, flesh out some of the factions, and capture the essence of the desparate struggle between the Old Republic and the Sith. I had intended Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter to be the most expensive (non war machine) figure ever, but after some playtesting, two characters weighed in at higher point costs. We'll see what Lucas has to say... if Darth Vader is supposed to be the pinnacle of Star Wars bad boys, then I'll probably have to make adjustments. But you have to respect a foe that manages to cling to existance for over four thousand years...
We'll have to see what the future holds for Star Wars Miniatures in the post movie era. I'm striving to put the best game possible in your hands. As we continue to branch out into the extended universe, I will keep my fingers crossed that the game continues to be well received. Only time will tell. You will not get to see this set for another 6 months or so, but I sincerely hope when the time comes you enjoy the fruits of my labors.
